After arriving in Paro, your adventure begins with a warm welcome at Happiness Farm, a serene retreat nestled in Bhutan’s countryside. From Paro, the tour continues with explorations of Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu, where ancient traditions meet modern influences. DRAFT ITINERARY
Day 01: Thursday, 23 April, 2026: Arrival in Paro
Welcome to Bhutan! འབྲུག་ལུ་ཕེབས་བསུ་ཞུ།
Kichu Lhakhang
Your experience commences the moment your flight lands in Paro International Airport, the only International Airport in Bhutan. Once you clear the custom and immigration procedure, you will be warmly received by Dorji and taken into town for refreshments.
After this, you'll visit Kichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest and most beautiful temples, and the vibrant local vegetable market. Afterward, you'll drive to check in at Happiness Farm, where you'll enjoy a welcome dinner and settle in for a peaceful overnight stay, surrounded by the tranquility of Bhutan's countryside.
Day 02: Friday, 24 April: Explore Dobji Dzong and Surroundings

On Day 2, you'll visit the historic Dobji Dzong, a pioneering Bhutanese fortress with deep religious and cultural roots. Once a religious site, it has transformed over the years into a provincial governor (penlop) residence, a central jail, and now a monastic school. Afterward, hike to the sacred 'Drupchu' spring, known for its healing waters, where you can experience this revered site. Enjoy a peaceful picnic lunch before embarking on a scenic hike back to Happiness Farm via Yuesakha village. Unwind in an optional herbal bath and relax for another restful night at the farm
Day 03: saturday, 25 April: GIANT BUDDHA & PUNAKHA
On Day 3, after breakfast, embark on a one-hour drive to Thimphu, Bhutan's capital, where you'll greet the majestic Giant Buddha. Then, drive to Dochula Pass, where you'll marvel at the 108 chortens set against sweeping Himalayan views. From here, we continue to Punakha, where the calm waters of the river and verdant rice terraces create a tranquil atmosphere. Settle in for the night at the hotel Zen Punakha, surrounded by the natural beauty of Bhutan's lush valleys.
Day 04: Sunday, 26 April: Punakha

On Day 4, you’ll begin with a visit to the grand Punakha Dzong, a breathtaking fortress flanked by two rivers. After exploring its vibrant murals and stunning architecture, enjoy a picnic lunch at Happiness Farm 2. In the afternoon, hike to the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Stupa for sweeping views of the Punakha Valley, followed by an exhilarating rafting trip on the Mo Chhu River. End your day with a delightful dinner before retiring at the hotel Zen Punakha for a restful evening.
Day 05: Monday, 27 April: From Punakha to PARO

On Day 5, you'll travel back to Paro, where the serene landscapes welcome you once more. After arriving, enjoy lunch in town and explore the charming streets of Paro before returning to Happiness Farm. In the afternoon, take part in a fun and interactive cooking demonstration, where you can help prepare traditional Bhutanese dishes with fresh farm ingredients. As the day winds down, savor a farm-to-table barbecue dinner and drinks, celebrating your journey amidst the peaceful atmosphere of Happiness Farm.
Day 06: Tuesday, 28 April: Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)

On Day 6, embark on one of Bhutan’s most iconic adventures: a hike to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The trail winds through lush pine forests, where prayer flags flutter in the breeze, leading to this sacred site perched on a sheer cliff 3,000 feet above the Paro Valley. Along the way, enjoy stunning vistas of the mountains and valley below. After reaching the monastery, take time to explore its ancient halls and reflect on the spiritual significance of this pilgrimage before descending for a well-earned rest at The Happiness Farm.
Day 07: WEDNESDAy, 29 April: Happiness Farm

In the afternoon, take a peaceful hike through nearby villages and fields, connecting with the tranquil rhythms of farm life. The day concludes with a festive farm-to-table barbecue, offering one last opportunity to savor Bhutan’s rich flavors before your departure.
Day 8: Thursday. 30 April: Departure

On Day 8, bid farewell to Bhutan with a final morning at Happiness Farm. After enjoying a peaceful breakfast and reflecting on your journey, you’ll be transferred to Paro International Airport for your departure. Physical Activity and Expectations:
This is a moderately active tour with average walking 2-4 miles per day in both urban and rural settings (and possibly even more if you enjoy walking).
You’ll need to be able to climb up and down multiple flights of stairs (indoors and out)
Occasional sitting on the floor (e.g. cross legged or legs stretched) and/or getting up and down from the floor.
You’ll encounter uneven cobblestone streets, sidewalks, and trails.

In the event that a requested visit is not available, a similar visit will be substituted. A finalized itinerary and Travelers’ Notes document will be sent to all participants about two weeks prior to tour departure.

Dorji will obtain your Bhutan tourist visa and book your flights to and from Paro on Druk Airlines, the Royal Bhutan airlines. Opportunities also exist for trip extensions and/or stopovers in various global hubs (advice provided upon request, with costs according to the customized plan). This tour can also easily be combined with a pre-tour or post-tour visit to Eastern Bhutan and/or nearby Nepal (please inquire).
